No, no they don't. People use N/Rts because hero AI is terrible and don't know how to use energy management, so they need soul reaping.

But for actually players... they should be able to know how to manage their energy efficienctly. This is just like that thread where people are complaining that monks aren't good because an all heal bar doesn't work. Well that is because, an all heal bar isn't supposed to work. Use prot. Play smart. Look at posititioning rather then stare at red bars and monks are fine.

Edit: Quit complaining about nerfing 600. It is still viable in plenty of places. Plus, it was overpowered. Granted, SF also should have been nerfed. But presumably, it will be.

Ohh lawdy, the QQing in this thread is beautiful. Loving the complaints about MoR. ^-^

In all seriousness though, good update. Best one in awhile. I wish Patient Spirit would have gotten hit a little bit harder. Reduce the healing to around 90 at 12 Healing Prayers. Selfless Spirit was OP but should not have been 45 second recharge. 25-30 Would do well overall. I am SO happy to see R/A and Bspike out of my HA/GvG. THANK you for hitting Death Blossom, even though I am an avid fan and respect the skill I am glad to see it hit. 6 Second recharge is great.

* Tolkano [Tournament] is now in the following outposts: Random Arena, Heroes' Ascent, Zaishen Challenge, Zaishen Elite, Jade Quarry (Kurzick & Luxon), and Fort Aspenwood (Kurzick & Luxon). <3

the Escape nerf was good enough to kill R/As. a nerfed pvp version of Death Blossom is completely unnecessary.

Let's review. Anet wants to nerf builds that are not "niche" builds. In other words, they don't want one build to be able to farm alot of different areas.

Here is my question:
Where the hell else can you possibly use the E/Me Raptor Farming build? I mean really, did they even think about the repercussions of the MoR nerf or TIMING of the skill update. Really nice guys, it was really thoughtful to nerf a farming build the day before a major farming event. I wouldn't be so pissed if the skill update was Monday, or sometime after the weekend event, because then I'd have time to adapt for the Halloween event.

/signed on the idea to split MoR into separate PvE/PvP skills. Return MoR to what it was before the update, for at LEAST this weekend.

In the mean time, I guess I get to use this pathetic Mist Form build I found...

Overall, interesting update.

I'm not complaining at all, theres nothing bad about this update imho.
Good nerf of Armour of Sanc and the R/A's
I 600 monk quite alot but im not going to QQ about MoR. (although, i do agree that it should be split into PvE and PvP)

Good job, ANet!

EDIT: My opinion: ANet kept Shadow Form as it is so that raptors can still be farmed for grog.

Starter areas are not "fun" in a 4+ years old game. Running around like a headless chicken doing some NM silly mission you've done thousands of time before is not fun either. Filling HoM is the last "fun" a PvE-er is left, the last goals a PvE-er can go for and it's a pretty crappy one I agree.

So all that's left of the GW PvE content is ... HoM. No matter how you put it. And it's the reason many are still playing PvE after 4 years. So spare me with your grinds example. What's left to do for someone not interested in PvP?

It's not like we see new areas spawning with each nerf. Though I'd love to enforce a rule like that upon the live team.

The state of gaming today would be so much better had there been laws protecting the consumers from removing or altering purchased products with the exception of adding additional content or fixing of bugs that hinder game play. Thus making the game makers mistakes 110% the game makers problem as it should be and been all along.
You have absolutely made my day. I'm going to treasure this little gem for a long time.

I don't think I've laughed this hard in years.

OT: Solid update. Would have liked a few more changes, but I have to admit I am tentatively rather impressed. There is not a single change in those notes that I do not agree with, hopefully more of the same is to follow.

If updates are going to not completely break the game and actually slightly fix some things as this one has, then I may not mind the bi-monthly schedule after all.

Once again Anet nerfs skills for PVE and PVP because of the way they are used in PVP ONLY. In the Dev Notes for Matra of Resolve and Patient Spirit both were nerfed because of how PVP uses them NOT PVE. When is Anet going to realized that not everyone plays PVP? Why not split the skills like they did with Finale of Restoration? Anet is once again demostrating that this is a PVP balanced game and that PVE takes a backseat to PVP. Get it right Anet, split the skills.

Jesus Christ people, this update was meant to address glaring PvP issues.

I don't have a problem with Anet adressing PVP issues. The problem I am tired of though is when skills get nerfed in PVE because of PVP abuse or exploits. There is no reason Anet could not have split any of the skill changes into PVE and PVP. Finale of Restoration was restored for PVE to its previous behavior, that was good. Those of us who have no interest in PVP have the skill back. Why change skills for PVE when the reason they are being changed is because of PVP usage though?

That update makes no sense -_-... They nerfed R/A, they nerfed 600/Smite, they nerfed Bspike, they nerfed monk skills, hell, they even nerfed Raptor Farm, and yet Shadow Form stays untouched. This is disappoiting.

Remember kiddies

SHADOW FORM IS BEING MORE CLOSELY LOOKED AT DUE TO NOT WANTING TO COMPLETELY WRECK IT. YOU CAN SEE THEM SAY THIS IN THEIR PAX PANEL VIDEO.

As much as I'd like to see SF smiter's booned into hell forever..

i really didn't expect this much qq, but i am enjoying it. i am dissapointed however that we won't see another update until november. just a few things:
-600'ing is still doable.
-people are saying that r/a still lives, this may be true, but imo not as powerful as they used to be. they'll continue to be around but i think their popularity will die out.
-mindblast itself i think needs to be touched. people looked for ways to exploit mindblast whether through e/d or e/me--anet touched the /d skills last update, they touched the /me skill this update, but people will still continue to find ways to exploit mindblast until they fix mindblast itself.
-selfless spirit was completely imba, but i don't get why it got completely nerfed it to a useless state instead of a minor nerf where people still might actually consider bringing it. imo make it end after 4...8 spells, therefore while providing e-management they'll be reluctant to spam free heals on recharge.
-patient spirit is definitely powerful and almost rivals woh for the #1 skill in the healing prayers line, even after this slight nerf. this slight nerf is not a big deal.

Because the game is called Guild Wars. There are not two separate games called GW: PvE and GW: PvP. Unifying the skill system allows easier transition between players playing one or the other. PvX players (ie players who play both, not players who use PvXwiki), would be completely shafted if they had to learn 2 completely different skill functionalities for every single skill in the game.

PvE/PvP skill splits should only occur if there is a fundamental need for the skill to function in different ways in the two formats (ie, there is a need for assassins to be able to provide AoE damage in PvE, since that is what PvE is all about, so DB wasn't nerfed, there is a need for passive defense in PvE since monsters have higher attributes and can one shot targets, there is a need for permaSF to not exist in PvP, etc).

I fail to see how SF is a touchy matter. It is a god mode button. They said they would do something about it. It must be destroyed. This update in essence BUFFED SF because it removed some other options from the table.

The idea of the PvP/PvE split was not to buff everything in PvE and nerf everything in PvP (which some people want). The idea was to keep skill functionality seperate so it wouldn't cause problems in either side of the game. I don't agree with the split whatsoever, but that is the reason that was given for it.
